Nemis Privacy Policy

Last updated 15 August 2026.

Nemis runs on your Mac and your data stays there. Nemis does not operate a server that holds your mail, your contacts, your calendar or your conversations, so there is nothing of yours for us to lose, sell or be compelled to hand over.

That is the whole policy in one line. The rest is the detail, including the places where information does leave your machine, because those matter more than the reassurance.

What we receive

WhatWhenWhy
A licence key and a salted hash of your Mac's hardware identifier When you start a trial, activate a licence, or when Nemis rechecks it To confirm the licence is valid and count how many Macs are using it. The identifier is hashed so we hold no hardware identifier for anyone.

That is the complete list. No email address, no name, no usage statistics, no crash reports, no analytics, no telemetry of any kind. The request that carries it refuses any additional field rather than ignoring it, so a future version cannot quietly start sending more.

What leaves your Mac, to somewhere that is not us

Your AI provider. When you ask Nemis something, the question and whatever context it decides is relevant are sent to the model provider you chose in Settings, such as OpenAI, Anthropic or Google. That provider receives it under their own privacy policy and terms, not ours. We are not in that request and never see it. If you choose Apple's on-device model, or run a local model with Ollama, nothing is sent anywhere at all.

You control how much context Nemis may include. Set it to never send personal context and it will not, and anything you have marked private or secret is excluded before a request is built rather than filtered afterwards.

Your payment provider. Purchases are handled by Paddle, who act as the merchant of record. They collect your billing details directly. We never see your card number.

Your phone, if you pair one. The Nemis iPhone app talks directly to your Mac. Nothing passes through us: there is no relay to pass through. Messages between the two are encrypted with a key the two devices agree between themselves when you scan the pairing code, and nobody else holds it.

What stays on your Mac

Everything else. Your people and what you have recorded about them, what Nemis has remembered, your conversations, your briefings and the activity log are stored in ~/Library/Application Support/Nemis, encrypted at rest with a key held in your macOS keychain. API keys are in the keychain too, never in a file.

Nemis reads mail, calendar and contacts only with the macOS permissions you grant, and only on your machine. You can withdraw any of them in System Settings at any time.

Your rights

Because we hold almost nothing, most data requests are answered by your own Mac: everything Nemis knows about you is in that folder and you can read, export or delete it yourself without asking us.

For the licence record Nemis does hold, you can ask to see it or delete it by writing to privacy@metanlytics.com. Deleting it deactivates the licence. If you are in the UK or the EU, you have the right to access, correct, erase and port that data, and to complain to your data protection authority.

Children

Nemis is not intended for children under 16 and we do not knowingly hold data about them.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we receive, the app will tell you before the change takes effect. Quiet expansion of what we collect is the thing this product exists to be the opposite of.

Nemis is made by Metanlytics LLC, California, United States, which is the data controller for the licence record described above.
